POGRADEC-THE ILYRIAN TOMBS
The Illyrian Tombs of Selca are located near the city of Pogradec in Albania, in the village of Selca.
The Selca tombs are located 40 km from Pogradec, in the mountainous area of Mokër, in Lower Selca. Selca was founded in the 6th century BC, it was empowered in the IV-III century, when walls were built, covering a three-hectare area. The flourishing of this area grew considerably with the construction of the Egnatia road. Selca is located along this road, linking the upper valley of Devoll with the settlements of the Greek settlers. Five impressive monumental graves belonging to this period, built at the end of the 4th century BC, were discovered on this surface, which are unique in Europe by their application.You can go there by car for 120 minutes from Pogradec.It is a legend that the queen of Albania Teuta hided her treasure in Mokër.
If you go to Ilyrian Tombs you have to return to city within the day because there is no hotel there.
